COVID-19 Policies and Procedures for the 2022-2023 PJIF Season
*** Coaches, players, parents, volunteers, and spectators MUST follow these rules; there will be NO exceptions. Noncompliance with any rule(s) will result in the entire PJIF organization being banned from the Bay Center’s use for the remainder of the season. ***
Bay Center (BC) Cleaning Process:
BC will be sterilizing between Groups that come into the arena (Figure Skaters, PJIF, ECIH, etc.), not between age groups. They will require 45 minutes between each group to complete this process.
Coaches will host an online meeting before the first practice, with their age groups/teams’ parents to run through the policies and allow questions as it relates to:
What they can expect
Planning for the first session.
Precautions to be taken to keep the rink clean and safe.
Protocol for entering the arena:
EVERY person, player, coach, volunteer, parent, sibling, visitor, etc., are required to read and know these policies and follow them. (*** refer to "General Considerations")
Players and coaches will be required to utilize the health screening in the Team Manager App.
ALL AGE GROUPS: Please arrive early. Your player will be required to enter the BC dressed for practice, at least from the waist down (undergarments, shin guards and pants). Skates, chest pads, elbow pads, jersey, helmet and gloves can be put on in the rink. If your player needs assistance getting dressed, please get dressed entirely in the parking lot, minus skates. Locker rooms will NOT be available. Doing so will minimize exposure. Masks are required. NO exceptions!
Doors will open 15 minutes before practice time. There will be NO entry into the BC 15 minutes after the practice start time. THERE WILL BE NO RE-ENTRY IF YOU LEAVE DURING PRACTICE.
Entry and exit in the BC are through the main hallway. There will be a divide that will lead traffic to your team's designated dressing area. This will also be the lane from which you exit. Please stay in the appropriate lane.
The BC has restricted the number of spectators that can attend. There will be one spectator per player allowed. If that changes, we will let you know. ALL spectators, regardless of age, MUST wear a mask AT ALL TIMES while in the building and maintain social distancing.
Participants with risk factors or illnesses should not attend an in-person training or ice session. If signs or symptoms present while at practice or games, the Coach will restrict them from participating. It is the Coach’s discretion.
Players are required to wear their masks while in the building. They are only authorized to remove their masks while walking to get on the ice and walking to get off the ice to the changing area (helmet must be worn at these times). The players are to wear their masks while changing and while entering and exiting the arena.
There is NO SHARING of water bottles or towels. Please label your player’s water bottle. Please fill your player’s water bottle before coming to practice as water fountains are turned off.
Perform strict hand hygiene (hand washing and sanitizing) before and after training.
Parents/Spectator Protocol while at the arena:
Parents/Spectators are required to wear masks while in the building AT ALL TIMES.
Due to social distancing, all spectators will be asked to remain seated at all times. There will be no roaming around the BC.
Please sit only in the designated seating area. Seats are taped off to form seating pods used at Ice Flyers games and other events in the BC. DO NOT remove the tape on the seats. Sit only in seats not taped off.
Players and coaches need to observe physical distancing recommendations while off the ice and space as much as possible while on the ice.
Benches are not to be utilized.
The safety of each player is the responsibility of the coaches. They have the final say about players’ participation and have the authority to restrict player participation if they feel it affects safety.
Participants are to minimize their time in or around the facility.
Players are to immediately head off the ice surface to their changing area and put on their masks. Players must keep their helmet on until they return to the designated dressing area and put back on their masks. Players are to remove the gear they put on while at the arena and dress down to the status they came into the arena, i.e., leaving waist down equipment on minus skates. They are to exit the arena immediately.
Parents/Spectators are to exit the arena immediately after practice and wait for your player outside the arena. For age groups where parents need to assist players with equipment, the number of parents allowed in the dressing area at one time will be limited.
Parents/Players should disinfect helmets, sticks, skates and other equipment after each training session.
Wash clothes (jerseys, pant shells, socks and gloves) with high temperatures after each training session.
